How To Prepare for The Holidays

*Spoiler Alert* Shop early!

The holidays are right around the corner and as much as we love the holiday decorations and spending a lot of extra time with our loved ones — the reality is the holidays also come with stress. This can affect you in all sorts of ways from just feeling overwhelmed with everything you have to prepare to increased acne and breakouts. Don’t give in to the holiday peer pressure! Instead — check out our top tips for preparing for the holidays.

Green Tea

We’re what you would call matcha obsessed. So, when it came to time to formulate this green-powered toner we knew we had to include Green Tea. These fresh tea leaves are enriched with high doses of antioxidants and polyphenols including epigallocatechin gallate aka EGCG — an anti-inflammatory plant compound that protects the skin from UV-photo damage and premature aging. This is why antioxidants are a must-have in any routine!

Besides being an amazing anti-ager — Green Tea is also well-known for it’s antibacterial and astringent properties. This is thanks to another compound called tannins which reduce sebum/oil production further combating acne and skin texture. This is just one of the many green ingredients we including to smooth skin texture and balance the skin.

Artichoke

Artichoke is chock full of antioxidants and peptides which improve skin texture, combat fine lines and wrinkles, and visibly reduces the appearance of large pores for a soft, radiant glow. This nourishing vegetable is rich in natural vitamin C to boost collagen production and revive dull skin and increase moisture retention.

Centella Asiatica

We added a healthy dose of Centella Asiatica Water to the toner to soothe irritation and combat skin texture thanks to its ability to inhibit acne-causing bacteria. Centella Asiatica (aka “Cica”) is an ancient medicinal herb known for its powerful soothing properties that has been used in the East for thousands of years. It's jam-packed with antioxidants and soothing amino acids that improve the skin's barrier function increasing hydration levels and visibly calming redness and irritation. In fact, it's alternatively known as "tiger grass" because tigers used to roll around in it to soothe and repair their wounds.

Broccoli

Broccoli is a potent anti-inflammatory source of antioxidants including lutein, a carotenoid that works to protect your skin from oxidative damage. Environmental stressors like pollution and sun exposure encounter free radicals that can damage collagen leading to fine lines and wrinkles, sunspots, and sagging skin. Antioxidants like lutein work to combat that damage leaving you with firmer, more youthful skin. Broccoli is also rich in omega 3 and 6 fatty acids to increase moisture retention and reinforce your skin barrier.

Aloe

Did you know that aloe is made up of 90% water? This incredibly anti-inflammatory ingredient was a necessary addition to the toner for its powerful soothing and healing properties. It’s also loaded with Vitamins A and B, folic acid, enzymes, proteins, amino acids, good fatty acids, and triglycerides to infuse the skin with an amazing dose of hydration leaving skin feeling plump with moisture.

Long Story Short

💚Greens are amazing additions to any skincare routine but especially those looking to soothe inflammation and combat acne-causing bacteria. We combined a powerful blend of 33 different greens to provide a maximum dose of antioxidant power to hydrate, balance, and detoxify your skin. Don’t believe us? Just give it a try.

MAKE A LIST AND CHECK IT TWICE

You heard that right! With dishes to prepare and several incoming grocery store trips as well as plenty of dishes to make, it’s best to have a list on hand. The number one cause of stress is being ill-prepared so let’s nip that in the bud first thing. Make that list and (actually) take it with you when you head to the grocery store or to shop for presents! You’ll be surprised at how much stress you can avoid when you plan things out the right way.

PRO TIP: When it comes to holidays, Pinterest is your best friend. Be sure to take a peek and see if you can find any well thought out holiday shopping lists. All the work without any of the undue stress.

LAYER UP

The weather is getting warmer and the last thing we want to do is layer on heavy, suffocating moisturizers. A great alternative is to double up on your toner for an extra dose of hydration so you can go in with a much lighter weight moisturizer. Don’t go too overboard though! All you need to do is pat in a few drops of toner, let it absorb into the skin, and then go in with another few drops. Avoid adding too many layers as too much of a good thing isn’t always the best.

DIY MASK

Need a quick dose of hydration? You can also mask with the Bitter Green Essence Toner. Just grab a few reusable cotton rounds and soak them in the toner. Apply everywhere or just to the areas that are feeling the most parched and leave on for 5-10 minutes for max hydration. Simple as that!

LONG STORY SHORT

🍃The Bitter Green Essence Toner is a potent treatment for your skin. This hybrid toner/
essence formula effectively hydrates, balances, and clarifies leaving you with clear refreshed skin.

DECORATE EARLY

Whether you’re celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanza, don’t leave the decorating until the last minute. Get this part out of the way early. Who said you can’t decorate in November? This should be the most relaxing part of setting up for the holidays. Take your time, put on some holiday-themed tunes, and decorate at your own pace. Doing this early, allows you to avoid that last-minute stress. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
