Here's Our At-Home Spa Routine
Selfcare is always in.
It’s no surprise that this year has been tough. From a global pandemic to strict quarantines, this year is unlike any other and with that comes constant feelings of anxiety, fear, and uncertainty. While the most we can do is follow local guidelines and make sure to continue to properly socially distance, it’s also important to take care of yourself and your mental health. Whether that means taking a break from the constant barrage of news or curating an at-home spa routine to curb your nerves — never feel guilty for putting your mental health first.
If you’re a skincare junkie, it’s no surprise that your routine is a source of immense comfort. Let’s kick it up a notch with an easy at-home spa routine that you’ve been missing. Be sure to dim the lights, get into your comfiest robe, light a candle, and clear your mind.
Step 1. Deep Clean + Massage
The base of any facial is a deep, thorough (yet gentle!) cleanse to rid the skin of any unwelcome impurities. We like to go in with the Rice Cleansing Sorbet as it has an incredibly indulgent texture that melts within three seconds of contact with the skin. Be sure to apply onto dry skin and watch as it melts away your makeup, sunscreen, and bad bacteria. No need to rush! Take your time with this cleanse properly massaging all areas of your face including the pesky nooks and crannies around your nose and chin.
This cleansing moment also doubles as a great time to work in a lymphatic drainage massage. The Rice Cleansing Sorbet has the perfect amount of slip to depuff and contour the skin. You’ll want to massage the skin in an upwards motion ridding it excess water build-up effectively slimming and sharpening your features. After massaging, rinse with warm water and watch as the oil emulsifies into a milky texture ridding the skin of all debris.
Step 2. Exfoliate
Follow up your cleanse with your favorite physical or chemical exfoliator. If you’re going the chemical route, soak a few reusable cotton rounds into the exfoliator and then gently pat the solution onto your skin. This helps it to fully penetrate as well as make sure you’re reaching all surface areas. This step helps to slough away dead skin cells and decongest your pores, revealing brighter, smoother, more radiant skin. You’ll notice that every facial includes this step as it’s like a reset button for your skin bringing it from dull and dehydrated to fresh and radiant. If you’re suffering from acne, this is an especially important step to combat breakouts effectively.
Step 3. Steam
You can definitely skip this step but if you’re feeling fancy here’s an easy way to steam your face at home. Boil a pot of water and let it cool slightly and then place your face above the water and let it steam gently for a few minutes. Be sure to not submerge your face in the water and be as careful as possible during this step.
Facials typically include this step as they help to “open” your pores. This doesn’t actually mean that your pores open but if you have any dirt, debris, or gunk in them, the steam helps to soften it making it easier to extract.
Step 4. Mask
Usually, at this point in a facial is where the facialist would perform extractions but we do not recommend doing this at home. Estheticians are trained to properly perform extractions without damaging the skin so it’s definitely best left up to the professionals. We recommend instead using this moment to apply a mask. This can be a store-bought or a DIY one that’s geared towards decongesting and soothing the skin.
One of our favorite DIY masks is with our Bitter Green Essence Toner. Before your facial, pop the toner in the fridge to chill for a bit and then soak a few reusable cotton rounds in the essence. Apply the soaked cotton rounds onto all areas of the face excluding your eyes. The cooling sensation along with the green-packed formula will help to infuse your skin with a calming dose of hydration. The pore-purifying blend will smooth skin texture and minimize the appearance of large pores. Leave on for 10-15 minutes before moving on to your next step.
Step 5. Moisturize
After putting in all of that working cleaning, steaming, and masking — it’s time to infuse the skin with moisture. This comes in a variety of ways through serums or simply just going in and sealing in the hydration with a luxe moisturizer.
Our favorite combo is going in with the vitamin-C packed Tomato Serum to add a dose of hydration and brightening power and following up with our collagen-boosting peptide-powered Salmon Cream. This duo will help to introduce a mega-dose of hydration back into the skin while locking it in for all-day protection.
Soothe and calm red, reactive skin
“I started wearing a mask every day since COVID-19 began. Since then, I noticed that my skin looks dull and needs a boost of nutrients! So my goal for next year is to find the right ingredient and develop the right product that could help me and others nourish their skin.”

Lost of veggies for healthy skin!
Lots of veggies for healthy skin!
“Every new year, I always plan to change up my diet and adopt a healthier lifestyle but this year, my new resolution is to focus even more on skincare — particularly maskne. Maskne has become a major skincare problem as a result of COVID-19 and my goal is to effectively target those mask-related breakouts with fresh veggies that’ll maximize my glow and firmness!”

Fine the perfect vitamin C
“To FINALLY incorporate a regular vitamin C into my routine. I’m extremely picky when it comes to texture and if I don’t like formula there’s no way I’m going to stick with it”
